What is the problem and who is affected?
Low-oxygen tumours are aggressive and more likely to spread than tumours with higher levels of oxygen.
What is this research hoping to achieve?
Dean Singleton's project will investigate the potential for hypoxia-targeted drugs in breast cancer (developing drugs targeting cancer tumours low in oxygen). This work could help prevent the spread of cancer and improve patient survival.
